The former Google alum joins the White House as multiple federal agencies look to recruit top-tier talent for enterprise technology positions.

The White House Office of the National Cyber Director appointed Camille Stewart Gloster as deputy national cyber director for technology and ecosystem security, the latest recruit to the office’s leadership roster.

Announced on Monday, the White House confirmed that Stewart Gloster would work to help the ONCD fortify the security and development of the U.S. cyber ecosystem, spanning both the technological components as well as the public sector employees that run digital processes.

“We need top talent in the government to meet the dynamic and complex cyber challenges we face as a nation. We are excited to welcome Camille to ONCD,” said National Cyber Director Chris Inglis. “The depth and breadth of her experiences will help the Biden-Harris Administration advance key priorities, including promoting the resilience of our software and hardware supply chain, building a more diverse cyber workforce, and strengthening cyber education for all Americans.”

Stewart Gloster’s most recent post prior to joining the ONCD was at software giant Google, where she was the global head of product security strategy. She has held public sector positions before, namely working in the Obama-Biden Administration at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

“In the field of cybersecurity, Camille is regarded as not only an expert but also as an inspiration, especially to women and underrepresented minorities,” Kemba Walden, the principal deputy at the National Cyber Director added. “She will be an asset to our team as we seek to strengthen the cybersecurity of our Nation, its citizens, and its technology.”

The ONCD announced other leadership positions back in May, including the appointment of Walden, along with Neal Higgins and Rob Knake as deputy national cyber directors. Both Higgins and Knake spent many years working in the public sector, while Walden’s most recent position prior to the ONCD was at Microsoft.
